About the Waterloo Region Taxi Alliance

In the 1980's, the Waterloo Region Taxi Alliance started out as the Waterloo Region Taxi Association to collectively review, discuss, and contribute to the standards, regulations, and safety of the taxi-cab industry in the Region of Waterloo.

In 2014, it was rebranded and registered as a not-for-profit organization under the Waterloo Region Taxi Alliance. While continuing to represent all aspects of the taxi-cab industry, the WRTA also leads the way in information, education, and safety in the passenger transportation industry. It provides a legislative interest as well as represents common federal legislative interests.

WRTA's mandate also includes:

  • Protecting and expanding industry rights and opportunities
  • Collecting, interpreting, and disseminating industry information
  • Providing forums for professional development and education
  • Advancing the image of the industry before the media and general public.
